Dear Diary - why do cots have gaps?

First of all, when we go shopping, i'm not sure to go with  Mummy or Daddy,
Mummy just likes to buy me princess stuff and Daddy thinks he know's whats in style for me.
Really Daddy, Yellow Glasses?

Ahh, Scripture study with my Daddy. ("Excuse your knee Dad, i'm trying
to read there.")
So why do cots have gaps?
So when they designed cots why did they design to have bars? I like to have a play around in my cot in the mornings.  But i always find myself stuck in the bars, whether it's my arms or my legs i get stuck.

Plus I always drop my Dody's (Pacifiers), bottles and binki (blanket) through the bars.

I thought I could escape through them, clearly not.

So what is the point in bars on cots?
So because I have  only learned to crawl backwards i get my self in a right pickle.
